Ventilated facades are a type of cladding where a cavity which functions as an air cushion lies behind the surface material. It tends to be used for exterior cladding and allows for drainage and ventilation, enabling the flow of inside and outside air. The cladding is usually fixed to a framework, frequently metal,  that is attached to the facade.
